We Want You to Make a Joyful Noise

Stylized people singing“Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.

Serve the Lord with gladness!

Come before His presence with singing!”

From Psalm 100 (King James Version)

Yes, SINGING! Yes, YOU!

First Baptist is blessed to have found new music leadership for the upcoming 2018-2019 Music and Fine Arts Season. We welcome Stephanie Price and Brian Kozak to our family.

So, in support of the legacy of our beloved Bob Schneider, why not make this the season you join the First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland Chancel Choir or Praise Team. Add your voice in joyful praise to the Lord each Sunday! Studies have shown that singing improves your health, both mental and physical. Your participation each Sunday will enhance your own worship experience as well as that of the whole congregation!

The Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical

Hunchback of Notre Dame

The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a success! The cast, crew, musicians and everyone else that helped put on this production want’s to thank you for attending and your continued support of H.E.L.P.

Mason Stewart & Kelly PerniconeHappy Ending Lyric Players (H.E.L.P.) appeared on Channel 3 (WKYC) We the People talking about H.E.L.P. and their new musical, Disney’s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
The Hunchback of Notre Dame is a musical based on the 1831 novel of the same name written by Victor Hugo with songs from the 1996 Walt Disney Animation Studios film adaptation.

The musical premiered in 1999 in Berlin, Germany as Der Glöckner von Notre Dame (“The Bellringer of Notre Dame”). It was produced by Walt Disney Theatrical, the company’s first musical to premiere outside the U.S. It ran for three years, becoming one of Berlin’s longest-running musicals.

The musical relies on a series of musical leitmotifs, which are reprised either instrumentally or vocally. Each of the central characters has a theme (“Out There” for Quasimodo, “God Help the Outcasts” for Esmeralda, “Hellfire” for Frollo, and “Rest and Recreation” for Phoebus). “The Bells of Notre Dame” acts as a narrative device to tell parts of the story.Come One! Come All! Here it is, the moment you’ve been waiting for!

Mason Stewart directs this production in our beautiful sanctuary that brings to mind a cathedral in Notre Dame. A sweeping score and powerful story make The Hunchback of Notre Dame an instant classic. Audiences will be swept away by the magic of this truly unforgettable musical.

Handbell Choir

BELL RINGERS NEEDED!

handbell choirThis spring we are bringing back the Bell Choir, one of Bob Schneider’s favorite music-making ensembles here at First Baptist!

But we can’t do bell ringing justice without bell ringers. For a variety of reasons the ranks of the Bell Choir have been reduced, so we are looking for dedicated individuals, preferably who can read music (although there are wonderful bell ringers who don’t read music) and who could dedicate time for a one hour rehearsal from 6 to 7 PM each Thursday evening, and perform in a Traditional Worship Service about once a month.

We have moved the rehearsals and performances downstairs from the balcony in the back of the Sanctuary, so if climbing stairs have been holding you back, that excuse is gone! Rehearsals, with a very congenial group of ringers, are enjoyable to be with, to say the least.

bell and musicSo give joining the Bell Choir some thought. In fact, don’t even think about it. Just come on out on a Thursday evening at 6 PM and give it a try. The 100th Psalm says in part, “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands!” That would be YOU playing bells! Give it a try. You won’t regret it!

Check the calendar to verify dates and times.
