Memorial Gardens in the Spring

memorial garden in spring

In spite of several articles in Tower Tidings over the years about the FBC Memorial Garden, many folks are not aware of its existence. It’s not very visible along the church driveway parallel to Eaton Road at the east side of the Sanctuary but it is a delightful, small, commemorative area of the church property. Called the Memorial Garden of the First Baptist Church of Greater Cleve-land, It was established more than 40 years ago, and it was designed to enable grieving friends and relatives of members and friends of First Baptist to have a paver (brick) engraved with a loved one’s name, year of birth, and year of death, and placed in the garden as an ongoing tribute and memory for future visitation and comfort. Folks are then encouraged to spend a quiet moment in the garden reflecting on their loved one’s lives and relationships.

Now would be the time for you to honor a relative or friend by purchasing a paver and having it engraved. Pavers cannot be installed in the garden walkway during the winter months. So If you would like to memorialize someone this spring we encourage you to complete an order form and turn it into the church office along with a check for $120 made out to First Baptist Church to cover the cost of engraving and installation. Order forms are available in the church office. Your paver will be ordered and installed as soon as possible. Lead time in good weather is usually about four weeks. If you have any questions please contact Mike Skerritt or Jeff Gordon.
