Matilda the Musical is a stage musical based on the 1988 children’s novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. It was adapted by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and directed for the stage by Matthew Warchus. The musical’s narrative centers on Matilda, a precocious 5-year-old girl with the gift of telekinesis, who loves reading, overcomes obstacles caused by her family and school and helps her teacher to reclaim her life.

Missing the hugs and smiles from fellow members? Then share your words of encouragement with us. We are putting together a video to be shared during our worship service. Please send in a picture of yourself or those loved ones with whom you are spending this quarantine time together to Laura Preston by Wednesday, April 29. Photos can include a symbol or item of hope, a pet, a drawing or sign, or simply a wave and a smile. Have fun and get creative. If you know someone who might want to participate but needs a little technical help, please reach out to them. We ask that you follow a few suggestions in submitting your photos:
1. Landscape view only (hold your phone horizontally please)
2. Ask someone to take the picture rather than taking a selfie, if possible
3. Keep your messages short (a word or brief phrase)
4. Stay close to the camera so we can see you

Did you miss our game night for all ages? The adults had as much or more fun than the kids. There was a killer game of Monopoly and Pastor Jeff is now a hotel mogul and will probably sporting a new Rolls Royce complete with chauffeur soon.
Family Creation Night Was A Hit!
Creation is the theme for our upcoming Hero Headquarters so we decided we would use that as or Family Night theme. Our night of creating with Minecraft, Legos, and crafts was great. This Free family night was well attended by several families including kids, parents, aunts, uncles and even grandparents. A lot of the kids headed straight for the lineup of Xboxes that Carly was able to finagle from work at the Microsoft Store. She had her friend and coworker Natalie Esther there for tech support and moral support. Thanks to Natalie and Microsoft! Carly pulled out all the stops on the snacks with healthy fruit and veggies and not so healthy (but delicious) pizza, chips, and cookies.
Besides the lineup of Xboxes, there were Legos to creations to build and plastic crafts to create. It made a nice diversion when attention spans waned and kids needed a break from mining. Later in the evening we even toured downtown Cleveland Minecraft style through the Rock Hall of Fame, Browns/Cavs/Indians stadiums, Terminal Tower and more all built by Adam and Frank (not in one night). We can’t wait for the next big event!
Use the form below to get notified when the next big event is happening! If you have any suggestions for great family activities you can also suggest them in the form.
