2007 CHRISTMAS GIVING

New Life Community -Moms living at New Life Community will enjoy "shopping" in the store set up in their activities room. From your gifts of toys, games, art & school supplies, board games, baby items, baseballs, footballs, basketballs, bead & jewelry kits, and sweater of all sizes, the moms will be able to "shop" for fitting gifts for thie children. Moms will also enjoy calendars, daily planners, alarm clocks, umbrellas, and slippers. Please place your gifts in an open gift bag and place it under the giving tree in Spahr Center by Sunday, December 16.

The Zelma George Shelter - Playing in the snow is much more fun if you're wearing warm mittens or gloves! The parents and children staying at the Zelma George Shelter will appreciate your gifts of mittens, knit caps, and scarves. The parents will also appreciate your extra 2008 calendars. Please place your gifts on the tree by Sunday, December 16.

Angel Gifts - Would you like to be a Christmas Angel for a child through the Cleveland Interfaith Council? If so, you may choose an angel card from the "Giving Tree" in Spahr Center. The card will have some specific information about a child along with a gift suggestion. Please limit your gift to $20. Place your wrapped gift with the angel tag under the tree by Sunday, December 9 and sign your name on the "Angel" poster by the mitten tree.

Wade Park Hunger Center - Your dinner is usre to be just a bit more delicious if you eat knowing you have helped fill another table. Bring in your fresh fruits, vegetables, canned food and frozen Turkeys on Sundays, December 2 and 16. All food will be given to your Cleveland neighbors in need.

Retired Ministers and Missionaries Offering - Many of these faithful servants worked for very low pay and truly appreciate the bonus gift at this time of year. You can make your check out to FBC and mark the memo "M&M" or place your contribution in the special envelope provided during worship services. The offering will be received until Sunday, December 30.

Calvary Hot Meals Program - Join with FBC friend at Calvary Presbyterian Church to serve a Christmas meal to needy people living in the neighborhood of 79th & Euclid Ave. This meal will be served on Friday evening, December 28 from 4 - 6 pm.

FBC Children's Center - New and gently used books for toddlers and pre-school children are needed in our Children's Center. With an enrollment of 132 children, there are many children using the books daily so replacements and addtions are always needed. Place your books in a bag marked "Children's Center" under the tree by Sunday, December 30.

HANDS-ON OPPORTUNITIES

We provide hands-on opportunities with the resettlement of refugees, the Zelma George Shelter, InterAct Cleveland, Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland, New Life Community, and East Side Ministries.

Together with the Cleveland Baptist Association, we work with Rev. Vince Harris, an American Baptist home missionary, who serves with the Race Track Chaplaincy of America at Thistledown Race Track in Cleveland, OH. He ministers to the needs of people who work on the "back side" of the race track, holding worship services, conducting marriages and funerals. He also assists with housing, medical concerns and other physical needs of the workers and their children.

OUR HUNGER GARDEN

Annually, our members tend a prolific produce garden on church property to help feed area families in need. Located near the Shelburne entrance, behind our church building, the garden is tilled, planted, watered, weeded and harvested by our members.

Last year, more than 2000 pounds of fresh produce was delivered to the Wade Park Hunger Center (WPHC) for distribution to those in need. In addition, we collect and deliver hundreds of pounds of canned foods and staples each month to WPHC.
