Our diversity is our strength. It enriches our worship services and our social groups. A wide variety of social groups are offered, from general functions open to all age groups, to age specific and gender specific groups and activities.

    Interfaith Family Group
    Contact Stephanie Allen
    216-932-7480 ext. 21

Did you know that according to the "Jewish Outreach Institute", that “there are 1,000,000 interfaith married couples” and “28% of the 2.6 million married Jews in the U.S. are married to non-Jews and the rate of intermarriage was 52% of all marriages involving at least one Jew."? (Source, The Jewish Outreach Institute) With statistics such as that and a grower number of interfaith families in our church we ask “how do you honor the distinctiveness of both Judaism and Christianity and support individuals who are married”? How do raise children to celebrate holidays, family and life occasions and to understand the distinct history of both traditions and not create a new amalgam of both traditions? Is there a way to have a neutral and affirming place for interfaith families to connect?

The group will meet for six sessions, alternating weeks and meetingon Monday evenings at two homes in the area. The session will include topics such as: Common Symbols; Different Meanings: wine, water and bread; Christmas and Hanukah; Tabbos/Stereotypes; Assumptions of the Faith; Non-Negotionables of the Faith and Extended Families. The sessions will max out at 12 couples.

For information or to be placed on an invitation list, please contact Stephanie Allem at sallen@firstbaptistcleveland.org or (216) 932-7480 ext. 21. The first session will take place in November.

    Simple Living Group

A group that would educate, activate and motivate people towards voluntary simplicity.

“Voluntary Simplicity is not romanticizing poverty, monks, the Amish or people who struggled through the Depression. We only diminish those people's devotion or struggle, and we tend to try to make the journey of discipleship look silly or "for others/unrelated to us," untouchable. Poverty is NOT fun. Two thirds of the world population live in poverty Involuntarily. We have a choice. Instead it's a journey to find more meaning, more joy, more fun in life by getting out from under the burden of so much stuff, to remove the barrier of stuff that keeps us apart from other people, from God and even from ourselves.” (from www.simpleliving.org

A Wednesday evening class on the ground breaking book Affluenza will be held at 6:45 pm in the Livingstone Room. This class will introduce us to some of the issues this group will face.

    Singles Group
    Last Friday of each month

We will meet the last Friday of the month in area homes for food, fellowship, and fun. Don't worry, this is not a dating service! Simply Christians who want to get together to laugh and get to know other singles in the area and at FBC.

We meet every Sunday evening at 5:30 pm (same time as the youth meet) as parents to discuss topics such as raising a teen in our world, discipline, communication, prayer, religion, motivation, and love.

We don't necessarily "resolve" issues, instead we meet to discuss and support one another as parents. We meet upstairs in the Judson room.
