Students of all ages are learning to master the dance. Once you are introduced to Urban Contemporary Ballroom, the interest immediately takes hold and there is no looking back! No two couples are alike. Urban Contemporary Ballroom enables the dancers to incorporate elements from other popular dances as long as you include “the social” and the basic steps three count moves of Urban Contemporary Ballroom. This allows for extensive creativity and uniqueness. The music breathes life into the dance. It’s the interpretation between two people dancing with grace, elegance and sensuality that makes Urban Contemporary Ballroom a favorite of all.

Junior Dance

Junior Dance

Junior Dance is Cleveland based and began in the 1940’s.  We offer social etiquette and dance classes for students in the fifth through seventh grades.

The classes are taught by Mr. Patrick Navarro, former owner of American Dance Exchange and a certified international ballroom judge. Our Junior Dance classes start with 15 minutes of social etiquette covering topics such as cell phones, introductions, RSVP’s and helping a lady with her coat.  After the etiquette topic of the day, the students learn basic ballroom dancing skills.

There are eight classes a year held on Friday afternoon/evenings at The First Baptist Church In Shaker Heights in the Fellowship Hall.  The fifth grade class is held from 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m., the sixth grade from 5:45 p.m.  – 6:45 p.m. and the seventh grade from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Yoga Classes Bring Balance to Busy Lives

Our relaxed yoga class has been meeting Mondays in Wheaton Center for the last 3 years. Our extraordinarily gifted instructor, Julie Schlemmer, teaches a vinyasa (flow) yoga class which focuses on alignment of the body, awareness of the breath and connection to spirit. Her teaching style incorporates the asanas (poses) with a bit of laughter to lighten things up. Julie believes that yoga balances us physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually.

The yoga class meets Monday evenings at 6:15 pm. The cost is $50 per student for 6 weekly sessions or $10/class (all going to pay the instructor). Participants should wear comfortable clothes. You may bring a yoga mat. Julie adjusts the class to all who come, regardless of their prior yoga experience (or lack thereof)!
