Baptisms

As Baptists, we practice two ordinances as part of our worship: communion and baptism.

At First Baptist Church, we practice baptism by immersion, baptizing only those who have declared their faith in Jesus Christ.  Because infants cannot make this declaration themselves, we offer baby dedication ceremonies as part of our worship services to recognize a parent’s desire to dedicate their children to the Lord.

Adults desiring baptism are encouraged to speak with one of the ministers to make arrangements.  Children desiring baptism will first complete a short class offered by the children’s minister which explains the meaning of baptism and prepares them for a meaningful experience.
