First Baptist Church of Cleveland is an involved community partner. From helping to build homes to feeding the hungry, we are active in nearly every corner of the greater Cleveland area.
Hands-On Service Opportunities
We provide hands-on opportunities with the Zelma George Shelter, InterAct Cleveland, the Wade Park Hunger Center, New Life Community, East Side Ministries, the National Interfaith Hospitality Network, the Racetrack Chaplaincy at Thistledown Racetrack and more. Here are a few ways you can get involved in serving others right away:
Help Tend the Hunger Garden
A large garden on the church grounds provides the Wade Park Food Pantry with thousands of pounds of fresh produce each summer. Volunteers are needed to help weed, harvest and deliver the produce each week. For more information, please contact Brigette Schiffer.
Serve a Meal to the Homeless
On the fourth Friday of each month, volunteers from FBC prepare and serve a meal at Calvary Presbyterian Church to Cleveland's homeless population. You can help by preparing food in advance, or joining the team as they cook and serve. For more information, please email
Faith in Action Sunday
On the first Sunday in June, "the church leaves the building!" In lieu of our regular worship services, we head out into the community, where church members mow yards, prepare hygiene kits for the homeless, cook lunch for migrant racetrack workers, collect canned food for pantries and find other ways to serve our local communities.
Tutor a Teen After School
Beginning Fall 2009, FBC will become an afterschool center for 21 local teens. Tutors in all subjects are needed to help these students do their best academically. For more information on how you can help, please contact Youth Director
There are literally dozens of other opportunities for people to serve. If you have a desire to be actively involved in the work of the church, please contact the church office at (216) 932-7480 or by
