It’s Coming June 7 … the Church is Leaving the Building!

Faith in Action Sunday is a Sunday when we worship not by singing or hearing sermons, but by getting out of the building and helping others.  On this particular Sunday, services are cancelled and people are invited to join one of many projects designed to benefit others – whether it’s sorting donated children’s clothes, preparing hygiene kits for homeless men at 2100 Lakeshore, or helping an elderly neighbor clean up her yard.

The day begins at 9 am with a short communion service, then we’re off to work!  Projects are designed to accommodate all ages and energy levels.  Some projects are indoors, and some take place outdoors.  When the work is done around noon, we’ll gather for a celebratory lunch, and swap stories from the morning around the tables.  You don’t need to sign up in advance … just show up on June 7!

kidsChildren’s Clothing Drive Benefits Needy Families

As part of its Faith in Action Sunday, we are asking for donations of gently-used children’s clothing and shoes.  All donations will be sorted and sent to Love, Inc. – a Christian organization that helps families in need.  Donation boxes will be placed in the church’s main entrance all month long during May, and will be sorted by volunteers on June 7. Help other families as you clean our your closets!

DAVE BROWNDavid Brown Concludes His Ministry at FBC

Rev. David Brown, who has been serving as interim pastor for 13 months, concluded his ministry on April 19, and has returned to his home in central Ohio.  We were exceptionally blessed to enjoy Dave’s leadership in a critical time in our church history, following Martin Rolf Massaglia’s sudden death in early 2014.  Our prayers and thanks go out to Dave and Ellen for sharing their lives, talents and love with us!

Our Pastoral Search Committee is now interviewing possible candidates to become our Senior Pastor, but it will likely be several months before a candidate is able to begin ministry here.  In the meanwhile, church leaders and staff members will provide continuity during this interim period.
